From Seed to Garment
Hoda, The founder of Orsham believes in the paramount importance of authenticity in product handling. Her vision of creating a harmonious balance between product and person, is achieved by her establishing a weaving institute in Gorgan, Golestan province of Iran. The Institute is dedicated to ensuring all aspects of the end product is managed delicately and precisely in-house, from cotton farming to yarn spinning, organic dying, weaving and tailoring. The foundation of Orsham is built on the talent of young female artisans and young women from surrounding towns. Their fresh perspectives invite a vibrant environment, whilst remaining true to the authenticity of the region, which is reflected in the final product. The founded institute remains dedicated to embracing the revival of the craft that is being diminished within the region, therefore, as a means of preserving traditional practices, the pieces are delicately made by hand, from embroidering the garments to natural dying and hand-spun thread for décor.
