Ikat from Yazd

Darai Bafi, the Iranian impression of ikat fabric is the focal point in the creation of this collection. Three different fabrics all inspired by nature, “Sarv”, “the desert” and “the thousand eyes”, were sourced from a local family workshop in the city of Yazd.
Fabric design aims to redefine this craft through creative adaptation of natural elements into the resist dye process, creating patterns that are contemporary with the use of ancient and culturally rooted techniques.
Design process includes a playful exploration of new ideas while staying loyal to the traditional craft and chosen fabric characteristics such as simplicity and modesty.
